The final chapter in the “Views from Rock Falcon” a 10-piece series documenting the recording to the Hold Steady’s sixth album “Teeth Dreams” has been uploaded. Some serious nature stuff at the end of this one. Good night Franklin TN and your enormous spiders.
File under better late than never – the remaining videos from my “Views from Rock Falcon” series documenting the recording of The Hold Steady’s sixth LP “Teeth Dreams” have been resurrected from some record company vault in Manhattan or somewhere. Here is the first new one to be posted and it is the band describing the album amongst some “behind the scenes” footage I shot in Nashville TN.
Last weekend I was fortunate enough to be granted permission to shoot the The Replacements / Hold Steady / Deer Tick show in New York City at the Forest Hills Tennis Stadium. Although I got some good close-up shots from inside the security barrier at the front of the stage, the photo below is one of my favorites from the night just because of the sheer scale of it. The entire set of 33 photos can be found by clicking on my Flickr link.
It was a pleasure to see, meet and quickly get a shot of Death after their opening set before The Hold Steady in Richmond VA on September 5, 2014. Here is the link to the whole set of 24 photos from the day.
I was lucky enough to be asked to shoot backstage and on-stage footage at a Hold Steady show in Brooklyn back in February. That footage has since been incorporated into a live performance video shot with four cameras, including mine, during the concert at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. The link for the video’s debut is at :: RollingStone.com ::
20 of my “behind the scenes” photos from the “Teeth Dreams” recording sessions can be found by following :: this link :: – Shot in August and October 2013 at Rock Falcon Studios in Franklin TN (just south of Nashville).
The latest in the “Views from Rock Falcon” video series I shot and edited for The Hold Steady is at the bottom of this article :: The Guardian UK. Besides the trailer (post from January linked below), this was my favorite piece to put together as it utilized a lot of my old photographs of the band as well as some never-seen-before ones by Craig Finn.
I shot and edited this footage in Nashville in August and October during the recording sessions for the new Hold Steady album. More videos including interviews with the band and the producer will also be released soon.
